Dallas Teen Plays His Way Out of Homelessness, Into College
WFAA-TV Channel 8 – Yes, he loves music — but that’s not why he hauls the horn. You see, when you don’t know where you’re going to sleep, you tend to take everything with you.
Davis is one of 3,000 students across Dallas that are considered homeless, according to the Church of the Incarnation.
Their non-profit arm has hosted a drop-in program for homeless teens like Davis on Fridays during the school year called Incarnation House. It’s a place to eat, develop relationships, and — maybe most importantly — a place to play his horn.
“I really appreciate the Church of Incarnation Homeless Education Program being there for three years with me, and still haven’t given up on me after I graduated,” Davis said.
